How do my customers earn and spend points on the Shopify POS system?
Smile.io is able to read your orders on your Shopify POS system and award points to your program members. During the order checkout, as long as you select your customer's email address on the POS system, the points will be issued.
Note: If you want to create a new customer account on the POS system and you have the welcome points enabled in your rewards program, these new customers will not receive sign up points through the POS system.

Sign into your Smile.io admin and click on your 'Points' program.
In your Points program dashboard, you will click on the 'Earning' tab. Then you will click on the 'Add Earning Rule' button.
This will bring you to a page where you will select your POS order points. Scroll down to find 'Make a POS order'. Click on this option and set up your POS points per order. When you are satisfied, you will click 'Create Rule'.
A new screen will appear where you can customize this action further. When you are ready, you can click 'Save Rule'.
Now it's time to set up your POS-specific reward.
To set up your POS-specific reward, you will click on the 'Spending' tab in your Points program dashboard. Then click the 'Add Rule' button.
This will bring you to a page where you will select your POS-specific reward. Scroll down to find the Shopify POS reward options. When you have found the POS-specific reward that you want to apply, click 'Add Rule' to set up your POS-specific reward.
In this page, you can set up the reward that you would like to give to your customers on the POS system. When you are satisfied, you will click 'Save'.
A new screen will appear where you can customize this action further. When you are ready, you can click 'Save Reward'.
Now you are ready to reward your customers on your POS system.
You have two options to award your customers with points on the Shopify POS system.
First Option: Search the customer's email address while you put in their order. Here's how:
Under your customer's order, click 'Add customer' and search by the customer's email address. Once you have found the customer's email address, you can proceed with the checkout process.
Second Option: Search and find the customer's email address at the end of your transaction. Here's how:
In the top left-hand side of your Shopify POS dashboard, click on the + sign and select ' Add customer' from the dropdown menu. Search by the customer's email address and click their email to proceed with the checkout process.
Here is how you can redeem points for your customers on the POS:
First, search the customer by email. Once you have found the customer's account, click on the three dots on the right-hand corner.
You will notice that a drop-down menu appears. Click on the last option, 'Redeem this customer's points'.
In the new window, select the coupon that the customer would like to redeem.
When you have selected and confirmed the coupon, the discount will apply to the subtotal of the order.
Continue on with the rest of the checkout process.
In your Smile.io admin, click on 'Settings'.
In the Settings page, scroll down to find the 'Order Statuses' section. You will see a field within this section that says 'Reward for Shopify POS orders'. This is where you can disable or enable the feature.
Two distinct earning rules need to be set up for POS vs. Online orders.
When redeeming online, a customer will be able to redeem their points for a coupon code.
This coupon code can be used online, but it is not possible to use this coupon for a POS order, as Shopify POS does not support the use of coupon codes.
The alternative to using a coupon code on the Shopify POS system, is applying a discount to the order the customer is placing instead of the coupon code.
